Prescriptions

Methods of ordering your Repeat Prescriptions

Patients on repeat medication need an annual medication review. This will usually be a telephone appointment with the Practice Pharmacist. The date your medication review is due is on your repeat prescription slip. In some cases, this review may also be done by a doctor or nurse practitioner.

If your medication review is due and you have not arranged an appointment, we will contact you either by phone or text message with a link to book.  It is important to have a medication review, to ensure the safe and effective prescribing of your repeat medicines and to avoid any unnecessary delays or reduced quantities on further prescriptions.

  • NHS App – The simplest and most secure way to order your prescription. You can also access a range of NHS services. The NHS App is available now on iOS and Android.
  • NHS Online Login – View and order your current repeat medication. You will need to create an NHS log in.
  • SystmOnline – Click here to use our online system.
  • By repeat slip or on paper –drop your repeat slip in the prescription box at the surgery

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to have a telephone appointment with the Practice Pharmacists once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip of when this is due.  In some cases, this review may also be done by a doctor or

nurse practitioner.  If a review is not already booked when this date is reached, we will contact you either by phone or text message with a link to book an appointment.  It is important you ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to ensure the safe and effective prescribing of your repeat medicines and to avoid any unnecessary delays or reduced quantities on further prescriptions.

In all cases patients should allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays.

What to do with old medicines

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from for them to dispose of them safely or bring full sharps boxes into the surgery for disposal.  Do not put medications in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

Please see the following poster on the importance of proper disposal of inhalers to protect the environment.
